Modular Ablution Block Solutions for Workforce Camps
KUBO works with camp planners, MEP engineers, site teams and EPC procurement teams to define project-specific sanitary arrangements before quotation. Depending on the project, a modular ablution block may be planned as a standalone facility or coordinated with accommodation buildings.
Fixture requirements, user patterns, privacy arrangements, water, hot water, drainage, ventilation, cleaning access and installation interfaces all need to be defined.
Arrangement Strategy
Standalone or integrated sanitary arrangements
The appropriate approach depends on accommodation planning, workforce movement, privacy requirements, utility distribution and the way the camp will be operated.
Standalone Ablution Block
A separate toilet and shower facility serving accommodation or other camp areas, coordinated with water, hot-water and wastewater connections.
Shared Indoor Sanitary Area
Shared facilities coordinated with the accommodation room arrangement and circulation plan where the project calls for an internal sanitary core.
Integrated Arrangement
Sanitary functions associated with a room or defined accommodation unit where supported by the selected configuration.
Combined Project Strategy
A project-specific combination of integrated and shared facilities for different resident groups or operating areas.
User & Fixture Schedule
Define the users and sanitary functions before layout development
KUBO does not apply one fixture-per-user ratio to every project. Provide the project criteria and required fixture schedule without assuming a universal standard.
User Inputs
- Initial and peak users
- Shift and peak-use patterns
- Privacy or segregation requirements
- Project-specific accessibility inputs
- Applicable local project criteria
Facility Inputs
- Required toilet functions
- Required shower functions
- Washbasin or washroom requirements
- Changing or support areas where required
- Required separation between functions
Water & Hot Water
Define supply conditions and hot-water responsibility
Hot water and external water services should not be assumed as standard inclusions. State the project requirement, interface and responsible party.
Incoming Water
- Planned connection point
- Available supply conditions
- Project water-quality criteria
- External network responsibility
Hot Water
- Whether hot water is required
- Generation method
- Supply interface
- Equipment and commissioning responsibility
Drainage & Ventilation
Coordinate wastewater and ventilation interfaces
Internal sanitary provisions must connect to a project-defined external network. Sewage treatment, final connections and supporting services remain project-specific unless included in the agreed scope.
Drainage & Wastewater
- Module drainage outlet
- External drainage route
- Wastewater destination
- Sewer, collection or treatment interface
- Final connection responsibility
Ventilation
- Project ventilation approach
- Required air paths or discharge points
- Mechanical-service interfaces where applicable
- External duct or supporting-service boundary
Operation & Maintenance
Plan cleaning and maintenance access with the layout
Sanitary planning should reflect how the facility will be cleaned, inspected and maintained rather than only counting fixtures.
Cleaning Method
Share the cleaning method, frequency and wet-area requirements that may affect drainage and finishes.
Service Access
Identify access needed around fixtures, internal services and project-specific equipment.
Finish Decisions
Provide project finish criteria without assuming materials or performance values that have not been confirmed.
Scope Boundary
Separate the module scope from external site connections
A useful quotation should show what is included inside the proposed sanitary module and what must be completed as part of the wider site works.
Inside the Quoted Module
- Internal fixture arrangement
- Internal water distribution where included
- Internal drainage to the agreed outlet
- Ventilation and electrical provisions where included
- Defined module connection points
External Project Interfaces
- External water and hot-water systems
- Sewer, wastewater collection or treatment
- External power and final connections
- Foundations, lifting and site installation
- Permits, testing and commissioning
Site & Installation
Coordinate placement, transport, lifting and installation
Share the proposed location, connection points, access conditions, receiving and lifting plan, foundation readiness and local installation model. External utilities and civil works remain subject to the agreed responsibility boundary.
- Proposed facility location
- Water and wastewater connection points
- Transport and site access
- Unloading and lifting resources
- Foundation and staging readiness
- Local installation responsibility
KUBO References
Review product and project context without assuming a standard specification
These references support sanitary or camp-facility planning context. They do not mean every project uses the same configuration, fixtures or responsibility scope.
Detachable Toilet & Utility Unit
A current KUBO product reference for toilet, utility and support-room applications.
Tanzania EPC Site Camp
A wider EPC camp application that may include relevant support-facility context.
Related Planning
Connect sanitary requirements to the wider camp brief
Use the related page that matches the wider project question.
Camp Components
Define the wider facility schedule for accommodation, offices, dining and support functions.
Modular Dormitory
Coordinate sanitary strategy with dormitory room and bathroom planning.
Workforce Accommodation

Mining Projects
Use the mining solution where mine operations define the project context.
Oil & Gas
Use the oil and gas solution where oilfield or pipeline context defines the project.
RFQ Inputs
Information to provide for a sanitary-unit quotation
Known information and open decisions should be identified so the configuration and responsibility boundary can be reviewed together.
Users & Arrangement
- User population and shifts
- Required fixture schedule
- Privacy or segregation needs
- Accessibility and local project criteria
Utilities
- Water connection and supply conditions
- Hot-water requirement and generation
- Wastewater outlet and destination
- Ventilation and electrical interfaces
Site & Scope
- Site plan and proposed location

Buyer Questions
Modular ablution block FAQ
These questions help camp and MEP teams define sanitary functions and utility interfaces before quotation.
They may be planned in a combined unit, separate facilities or a project-specific mix where supported by the selected configuration. Define the required arrangement and user groups before layout development.
Provide the initial and peak users, shifts, required toilet and shower functions, privacy or segregation needs and project-specific accessibility inputs. Do not rely on a universal fixture ratio.
Hot-water provision depends on the quoted scope. Specify whether it is required, how it will be generated, the supply interface and who is responsible for equipment, external services and commissioning.
Provide the incoming water connection, available supply conditions, wastewater outlet requirements, external drainage route and intended sewage or wastewater destination.
State the ventilation approach and any mechanical-service interfaces. Also provide cleaning method, frequency, maintenance access, wet-area requirements and relevant finish criteria.
Provide applicable client, consultant, authority or project requirements for review. Accessibility or local-code compliance should not be assumed unless specifically addressed for the project.
Send the site location, arrangement and fixture schedule, utility information, proposed placement, access, lifting resources, foundation status, installation model and responsibility boundary.
Submit Sanitary Arrangement and Utility Requirements
Send KUBO the required toilet, shower and washroom arrangement together with user, utility, site and installation information. The team can review the configuration and identify open interface decisions before quotation.
For a useful sanitary review, provide
- User groups, population and shifts
- Required toilet and shower arrangement
- Water, hot-water and drainage inputs
- Ventilation and cleaning requirements
- Site placement and access
- Installation and responsibility model
